FLINT (WJRT) -- (07/20/11) -- You wouldn't think thieves would target golf carts, but Don Plowman says he's down tens of thousands of dollars and is looking into moving his business, Plowman's Carts, out of town. It's been broken into three times since May.
"Well, we're scared we're going to lose our business. I can't stand a $50,000 hit," said general manager Dan Petzole.
"We've had aluminum stolen and they tried to take it and scrap it right next door. They've stolen batteries," Petzole said.
Recently, according to him, it's as bad as it's ever been.
"The first time they did like this. They busted the fence down, crawled through it and then used a golf cart to ram the fence until they got the fence open," Petzole said.
A couple of days later? "They actually broke through the window, shoved a kid through the window and got in the inside," Petzole said.
The third break-in happened Monday night. Surveillance cameras were rolling once again.
"The lady next door yelled at the young men, told them there were video cameras and called the police," Petzole said. "Because of our police protection being the way it is, nobody actually showed up here until Tuesday morning."
Plowman's has been in Flint more than 20 years. The owners are not wanting to stay if things stay the same.
Plowman says he is offering a sizable reward for information about these break-ins that leads to the arrests and convictions of those responsible. Police continue to investigate.
I found it on another website.
